Yandex begins delivering coronavirus test kits to Muscovite seniors

16.04.2020, Interfax

MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax) - Yandex (MOEX: YNDX) has formally announced the beginning of at-home coronavirus testing: the company will provide the transportation of medical personnel from accredited partner laboratories for testing residents for coronavirus.

The service is currently available to Muscovites older than the age of 65. It will apply to other age categories and regions later on. Beta-testing of the program began in early April. At the time, only Yandex employees were able to be tested at home.

Testing is provided for a fee, yet Yandex will pay for the first 10,000 tests as a donation to partner funds. Applications can be filed on the website of the Pomoshch Ryadom project, and test results will be ready in one to three days.

The laboratories are using TsSP, Generium, Litex, and DNK Tekhnologia test kits, in addition to express test kit of the EMG company, which has received investments from the Russian Direct Investment Fund.

Later on, Yandex may organize the delivery of coronavirus antibody test kits, Yandex Deputy Chief Executive Officer Tigran Khudaverdyan said.

"Yandex and partner taxi aggregate services have created a special pool of vehicles to transport laboratory workers. All cars have protective barriers between the medical workers and drivers, for the sake of the latter's safety," Yandex said as it explained the test kits' delivery mechanism.
